I first undertook background research into each of the hiring disciplines covered in the report in the Shanghai and Hong Kong markets – from marketing and sales to finance, retail and strategy, IT and risk. I also looked into the overall economic outlook for Hong Kong, Shanghai and Greater China and general future of work trends.
To ensure we incorporated expert insight in each blog article, I conducted interviews with Morgan McKinley’s Consultants in each discipline. Each Consultant was sent an overview of the questions in advance of the interview, which took place via conference call. Questions included overall hiring trends in the sector in the past 12 months, the most in-demand roles, skills and qualifications, workplace trends impacting professionals, and projections for job seekers and employers in the next 12 months.
The 2019 Salary Guides are read by both professionals in the specialist disciplines (IT, Strategy, Risk, Marketing, Finance, Compliance, HR, Sales & Marketing, Office Support (and Automotive and Retail for the Shanghai Salary Guide) and employers. When writing each of the blog posts, I kept these two audiences firmly in mind to ensure the information we presented was relevant and useful.
